"Life Sentence," the second Bare Bones album, was originally released in September 1991. It features a collection of songs that landed Bare Bones a booking at the Mariposa Festival which was held on the Toronto Islands back then and curated by Richard Flohil. Highlights include "Unique Beauty" and "Back To Back."

"Suzanne Nuttall's singing reminds me of Bonnie Raitt with the emotional push of Maura O'Connell. Patrick Hutchinson doesn't overplay, and his attention to rhythm and slide playing perfectly complement Nuttall's vocals."

"Amid the screeching of rock 'n roll traffic, Bare Bones offer an island. It takes confidence to rely on sinewy blues/R&B material and uncolorized human emotions without the saving stomp of a rhythm section, but confidence isn't something Suzanne Nuttall and Patrick Hutchinson lack. It's the spindleshanks sound of notes played and left unplayed, but the abum reveals songwriters honest enough to take different perspectives on romance and love – wary in "Fear of A Gilded Cage," self-critical in "The Perfect Light."

Bare Bones Montreal, Québec

From 1989 to 1995, Montreal duo Bare Bones (Suzanne Nuttall and Patrick Hutchinson) performed in venues from punk rock dives to coffeehouses, from Charlottetown to Whitehorse. They also opened for artists such as Johnny Clegg, Timbuk 3 and Ani DiFranco. They recorded three albums, an EP and two singles, showcasing strong originals and some striking covers.
