The first Bare Bones album was going to be a demo but it turned out so well that the duo decided to sell it at shows. The songs were recorded onto a four-track cassette (!!!) and released in March 1990. Highlights include original songs "If I Didn't" and "Come To The Ocean," as well as a beautiful interpretation of the Motown classic "I Second That Emotion."

"If comparisons help, Bare Bones are a sort of rock / torch / country blues cousin to Tuck and Patti's refined jazz, or you might think of this as a kd lang demo tape. In all, a good argument for minimal duos to flourish."

Bare Bones Montreal, Québec

From 1989 to 1995, Montreal duo Bare Bones (Suzanne Nuttall and Patrick Hutchinson) performed in venues from punk rock dives to coffeehouses, from Charlottetown to Whitehorse. They also opened for artists such as Johnny Clegg, Timbuk 3 and Ani DiFranco. They recorded three albums, an EP and two singles, showcasing strong originals and some striking covers.
